I played: @MicroVolts BETA

0

So, i found out about this new game called MicroVolts, it’s currently in a beta phase and you can get in by signing up on http://www.microvolts.com and apply for a closed beta key. It’s no harder then that! If it should not work for some reason, you can get a code by signing up on http://mmohut.com.

MicroVolts is a anime styled mmo shooter game were you control a toy character to slay other toy characters. The graphics aren’t that impressive, but i like the cartoony look and funny maps. The game is free and only takes up about 500mb of space. Due to the beta the game could be down for maintenance sometimes, but not for long. I really think you should try it out.

Game modes
At the moment there are six or seven different maps to play on and five different game modes.
Team Deathmatch – Team up to kill your opponents!
Free-for-All – Kill everything and everyone!
Item Match – Like deathmatch but kills rewards you with random powerups!
Capture the Battery – Capture the flag style!
Close Combat – Melee combat!

Characters
There are four characters to choose from, and you can later customize them to your liking by spending points you get from playing.
The “bought” weapons, items etc. Only stay for a short period, like a day, week, month etc. After that you have to rebuy them, but if you play much you will have points so spend. Kind of the downside in my opinion, I do not like the fact that i have to rebuy the stuff later, I do hope they make the items harder to get and that they stay forever.

IF you get in to the beta, befriend me and kick my ass in a game! My IGN is: Freeradical

I made a short video when i played!
CAUTION: You might start to cry over my suckiness. I’ really bad at shooters, i can’t aim to save my life!

Yey, i got my mount in RIFT

0

Finally I managed to get a mount in RIFT.
Altho it’s pretty ugly, it gets me where i want to go :)

And ye, look at this, isn’t it beautiful? They sure know how to make a nice game!
Based on how much I’ve played so far, I am considering to play this when it hits retail.
And remember, I’m running the game on “low” settings, and it still looks this good. This is actual in-game screenshots i took a few hours ago.

RIFT cinematic and gameplay

I made a video with the intro cinematic of RIFT.
And added some sped up gameplay.

Edit: Apparently something screwed up in editing and some clips in the video are shown several times :P

I played: Rift Beta

0

I got in to the Rift Beta today.
I must say it do look nice, however, I had to lower the graphics and effects to the lowest settings to be able to play somewhat.
Never had to do that in a game so far…

I’ll be updating with some more info on how i liked it etc later. Need a few hours of playtime before I can comment on it for real.

“Mysterious rifts are tearing the world of Telara apart. A powerful magic explosion during the final days of the Shade War has left the veil between Telara and other planar dimensions fractured and torn.”
Here are some screenshots from my first hour.

I want stuff!

0

I’m browsing through ThinkGeek’s stuff and the geek in me is screaming BUY BUY BUY. Damn, if I haven’t had this much self control as I have, I would’ve bought it all. Who comes up with this stuff anyway?! They must be fricking geniuses.

Stuff like this amazes me, who wouldn’t want a Universal gadget wrist charger?
Or a guitar shirt? That plays actual tunes, brilliant!
A samurai umbrella? Absolutely a must-have item!
Bacon gumballs!!!! *Making the Homer Simpson sound*

Robot Clashes

0

So, you have probably noticed that a got a daily game thingy going on this site, a new web-based game is added everyday. Usually it’s just play and discard games, but today i got hocked on the game Robot Clashes (play here). I’ve played games like that before but this was incredibly fun. I managed to complete the game over a few hours of playing now and then, there wasn’t that much challenge tho, but it was a nice  laid back playing.

Instead of me trying to explain it, just follow the link above to get to the post, try it, i bet you’ll like it! :)

I played Aurora…

0

…And i kind of liked it.

I found Aurora by a random Reddit browse, and it said it was free the first 24h, so why not!
I admit that i wasn’t sure what Aurora was, and the screenshots did not give away much. When i first started i noticed the nice flowy feeling of it, very smooth.

I played 2 courses on easy, and i beat them both, i did have some trouble tho on the first go, before I learned the basics.
You control the game with your mouse and the purpose is to gather “stars?!”, or well, dots that pop out of your, what i think look like planets… The dots are kind of like your fighters and you select them by click and drag strategy. At the planets that have outer rings theres a possibility to grow the planet to the size of the rings by dragging more and more dots to it after you gained control.

There are two opponents on each course, or atleast in the two i played, they do attack each other and that can give you an opening to crush them. I do think you should try this game out for yourselves and the download link can be found here! And remember, it’s free for about 20 more hours.

The developer writes this in the site:
“Aurora is an abstract, essentialized, and simplified real-time strategy game.”

“You have only one type of unit to command and only one type of order to give those units. You and your opponents start the game with equal resources. Quick reflexes will get you nowhere. The only path to victory is through clever strategy.

Aurora features a slow, floating feel and gorgeous minimalistic graphics. The entire world pulses to the rhythm of ambient music, and the player’s actions evoke sounds that smoothly coalesce into melody.

This game is meant to provide a relaxing, cerebral experience. Every action has its reaction, and every option has its costs. Aurora is a game in which your choices matter.”

For some reason thumbnails got screwed, full size still works tho!

Kinect unboxing, Ikea & Minecraft gift code update

0

So, this day started with me sleeping to about 11, forgetting that it was the day of me and my girlfriends Ikea trip! Said and done we left home and went on a 200 km car ride (one way).  We kind of forgot that it was right in the middle of the Christmas sales and the traffic was awful. So was the parking!

So after not buying anything special on Ikea and the surrounding store we went to MediaMarkt, and I finally got my long wanted Xbox Kinect.

Now I’m sitting here, totally drenched and panting from playing Kinect Adventures for a few hours.
I must say, it handles better then i thought and it’s really fun.

Gonna bring it tomorrow to the new years party I’m going to!

The “Win a free Minecraft gift code”-contest is coming along great, got alot of requests so far!
Remember, you still have a chance to win it, just use the contact form and tell me why you deserve it, you can find the post with the rules etc here!
To make things extra special, i do plan on giving away another Minecraft gift code after this contest is done, but thats after January 10th, so be sure to check back then.

Took some pictures unboxing my Kinect, nothing fun or fancy, just a couple of pictures showing the contents of the box.
[nggallery id=27]
I fun thing in Kinect Adventures is that after each adventure you unlock different stuff, like animals, badges, clothing etc!
The animals, or statues like they are called can have movement and sound added to them by you, the player! So here’s two of my creations, I’m very sorry for my singing on the Choir bit, but hey, one got to have fun, right?

Kinect Adventures: Gorilla award!

Kinect Adventures: Singing choir!
